Country Performance Manager (Deputy Country Operations Manager)


The Role of the Deputy Country Operations Manager in china is to support the Country Operations Director to supervise the various activities in china in order to ensure their deliver they deliver their respective P&L objectives, increase their maturity and efficiency, as well as provide customer satisfaction with appropriate quality and operational maturity.

In particular:
• He/she is the owner of the consolidated Performance Plan, Mid Term Industrial Plan, established with each respective legal entity and their Business Lines. He/she ensure the management of these plans and is accountable for their achievement.
• His/her experience, together with coordination and analysis skills, enables he/her to provide senior support to entities in various topics, such as risk management, Bids and Projects Supervision, Methods and best practices, IS-IT deployment/transformation programs, Real Estate Projects,…
• He/she also coordinate the Quality and Customer Satisfaction at Country level.
• He/she would typically become the Country Operations Director within 5 years or so.

Position within organization:

This is a transverse role in the Country Operations organization. As such, he/she reports to both the Country VP Operations and to the International Quality Director. In the fully owned entities in China/HK, respective Quality and Performance managers also report functionally to him/her.

The Deputy Operations Manager has no formal reporting lines with Quality and Performance Managers in JVs. However, depending on the specific agreements, he/she may be involved directly to support the development of the quality functions, the deployment of ad-hoc processes or the management of customer satisfaction and ad-hoc support missions, task forces, etc....


China entities are quite independent, but benefit from the support of shared Services/Functions. The various businesses involve different areas of Expertise/Disciplines such as System Engineering & integration, HW development, Software Development, supplier management and manufacturing. The challenge is to enable sustainable and competitive growth of “small” entities, as well as the continuous improvement of competitiveness and quality across all our business.

Missions and responsibilities:

The Country Deputy Operations Manager mission and responsibilities include:
• Assistance to the Country Operations Director, who can delegate authority on various matters.
• Direct impact to the entities performance, thanks to his direct involvement and oversight.
• Leadership for Development of best practices and cross entities knowledge sharing culture.
• Leadership for deployment of the Group Quality policy for all the activities performed by the Country, while taking into account the orientations and quality objectives established by the GBUs for the CBUs and Domains of their scope.

The Deputy Ops Manager works with the respective entity leaders and local management teams to define their Performance and Business Improvement plans (Ambition Boost).

He/She monitors the progress of the implementation of this plan and ensures the reporting towards the Country and DGDI/GBU management. He/she liaises with the Group Function heads (procurement, quality, IS-IT, Services) to refine the action plans and mobilize the necessary support resources where necessary.
Desired profile :
• Education : Engineering background, MSc or equivalent

• Experience :
o Understanding of at least one of the Company business in China,
o At least 5years Experience in a multinational company.
o At least 10years Experience as System Engineer, Project Manager, or Quality Assurance Manager or as or performance / transformation consultant.
o Previous experience in Operations and Performance/Business improvement is an additional asset.
o Experience with LEAN, Agile, and coordination of international/multi entity projects are strong assets.
o Understanding of the Company Management Reference system (CHORUS) and the Company processes (or equivalent Multinational Company).

• Language : Fluent English Is mandatory, Chinese is an obvious additional asset
